Privacy

The short version: your notes are yours.

What LookyHere collects

Nothing. There is no account to create, no analytics, and no advertising. The app has no server to send anything to. The only third-party code in the app is ZIPFoundation, a small open-source library that zips and unzips your backups, entirely on the device.

One honest footnote: iOS itself produces standard crash and battery reports, and LookyHere keeps those on your device, scrubbed of anything personal. They go nowhere on their own. If the app misbehaves, you can export them from Settings and email them to me yourself; that's the only way they ever leave your device.

Where your notes live

Your pages are stored as Markdown files and images on your device, and in your own iCloud Drive if you're signed in to iCloud. The app can only see its own folder in iCloud Drive, not the rest of your files. That data is covered by Apple's privacy policy, and I can't see any of it.

If you're not signed in to iCloud, everything stays on the device and never leaves it.

Intelligence features

LookyHere's AI features (fact extraction, summaries, emoji suggestions, quick-note parsing, photo text scanning, and search expansion) run entirely on your device using Apple's on-device models. Your notes and photos are not sent to any server for processing, not to Apple's Private Cloud Compute, and not to me.

All of it can be turned off in Settings under Intelligence.

Permissions the app may ask for

Contacts. Only when you choose to link a contact to a person page, and only to copy that contact's name, photo, phone, email, and birthday onto the page. Contacts are never uploaded or shared.

Photos and Camera. Only to attach a photo you pick or take, or to scan a document or some text. Photos stay in your shoebox.

Location. Used at a coarse accuracy, only to show how far away a saved place is. Your location is never stored or transmitted. One related note: place search is Apple Maps under the hood, so what you type in that search box goes to Apple, same as it would in the Maps app.

Notifications. Used only to deliver the reminders you set yourself.

Children

LookyHere does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, I'll post the updated version on this page.
